Four sessions in January
I'm really excited to finally be able to announce the first RetireJapan online course, in collaboration with the International Teacher Development Institute (iTDI).
It's been in the works for a long time, but we finally got everything sorted out and registration is now live.
You can read all about it on the page, but basically it is a course for beginners (anyone already investing doesn't need this -check out the forum instead). It will be four 90-minute sessions on Sunday afternoons in January (15:00-16:30). If you can't make a session they are recorded and you can catch up later at your own pace.
We'll cover the following topics:
- Basics of Personal Finance
- Basics of Investing
- Investing in Japan
- Making a Financial Plan
The course will be interactive, both in the live sessions and also in a private forum. Participants will have homework to do before each session, and I hope the course will help people get started with some practical strategies to improve their financial situation.
This should be a good fit for people who couldn't make it to a RetireJapan event in the past, or for friends who need a bit more support before taking action.
If someone takes the course and starts investing, maybe opens an iDeCo account, maybe opens NISA accounts for their family, that should allow them to save tens if not hundreds of times the course fee in taxes alone. And more importantly they'll be one step closer to being in control of their financial future.
I'm really excited about the course and would appreciate your help spreading the word about it. If you have any questions, please post them in the comments or send me an email.
